Our Career Break Template

December 4, 2018 by Emma McEnery

How to explain your career break without feeling guilty or confused.

Would you include extended parental or a career break on your CV? It is a topic that always invites discussion and ONE question we are frequently asked to respond to.

In fact, we recently conducted a poll with our community and the result was an outstanding majority said no they wouldn’t mention extended parental leave/career gap on their CV.

However, we should not be ashamed of any career break we take. On the contrary, we should and need to celebrate it!! Whether it’s raising a family, caring for a family member, health issues, redundancy, career break for study or travel, all these experiences help develop new skills and enhance our old ones.

We have put this quick sheet together to help you address the issue and help you sift through the noise.
