EY Perth is working with FlexCareers to launch WA’s first Return to Work Program

April 27, 2018 by Emma McEnery Leave a Comment

EY Perth, the member firm of the global EY organisation serving clients in Australia (EY), is working with FlexCareers to launch Western Australia’s first Return to Work Program.

Aimed at women that have had at least two years out of the workforce, EY is offering a 12-week paid internship within its businesses in Perth and Sydney, supported by FlexCareers.  This flexible, four day per week program offers a supported route back into work with induction, coaching and mentoring for talented individuals who have had a career break of between 2 and 10 years.  Positions are available in Advisory, Law, Tax or Transaction Advisory Services, and participants will be exposed to a variety of project work whilst being fully supported to relaunch their career.

FlexCareers CEO Natalie Goldman said, “We are excited to be working with EY, an organisation that has set the standard for empowering women at work and supporting female entrepreneurs, to bring the EY Reconnect program to Western Australia.”

FlexCareers, Australia and New Zealand’s only consultancy and careers platform that specialises in flexible working, has been involved in Parental Leave and Return to Work programs for over three years.  Ms Goldman said, “Supporting women to fully participate in the workforce has been a key focus for FlexCareers since we founded the company in 2015.  Since then, we’ve helped return to work programs really take-off on the East-Coast, and we are delighted that EY sees the transformative potential for its services in the Western Australian market, and is bringing EY Reconnect to Perth.”

It’s estimated that more than 3.3 million women in Australia between the ages of 25 and 45 are underemployed (ABS), with women facing significant barriers to finding suitable employment at the level they were at before taking time away from their careers.

“Programs like EY Reconnect are helping to solve the problem,” said Ms Goldman, “combined with flexible working arrangements, they are removing barriers for women and allowing them to participate in the workforce at a level suited to their experience and potential.”

“Flexible work is the future, and not only for women.  As more and more people strive to create a better work-life balance, organisations need to be more flexible to attract and retain top talent.”

Applications for the EY Reconnect are now open.  You can find out more about the program, get application tips from the EY teams and apply to roles in both Perth and Sydney through FlexCareers here www.flexcareers.com.au/employers/ey-reconnect
