Australia’s Inaugural Flexible Working Day!

May 30, 2017 by Kate Beattie Leave a Comment

FlexCareers is proud to be supporting Australia’s inaugural Flexible Working Day on Wednesday 21st June, 2017.

Our CEO, Natalie Goldman, joins ambassadors including:

  • Lisa Annese CEO of the Diversity Council of Australia
  • Ashley Winnett Executive Director, People, Performance and Culture at GM Holden
  • Gemma Saunders, Head of OD, Diversity, Inclusion & Employee Experience at Medibank
  • Olympic Gold Medal Winner, Kim Brennan
  • Nicole Lessio Executive Director of The Parenthood
  • FWD founder, Vanessa Vanderhoek

With other supporters and friends including WGEA, Women’s Agenda, Families Australia, Advocacy for Inclusion, The Women’s Collective, PepsiCo and Working Simply, Flexible Working Day is Australia’s first official day to recognise the importance of flexibility in achieving gender diversity in the workplace.

FlexCareers will be featuring case studies and success stories from our client and community portfolio, and hope that you will support this amazing initiative with a case study on how flexibility is working for you, and by holding an event at your workplace on the day.  To assist you to run an event at your office on the day, a Flexibility Kit is available, and there is also a wealth of information available on the Flexible Working Day website, including links to educational resources, employer case studies and more.

We are so pleased to see so many organisations with events already planned throughout June to recognise this important day!

To support Flexible Working Day, and as part of our ongoing commitment to helping organisations to be more flexible, FlexCareers is holding Employer Roundtables throughout June.    Our topic this quarter is Supporting Managers to Embrace Flexibility – a critical part of ensuring flexibility policies are successful. A huge thank you to BankWest, Medibank, KPMG and Bank of Queensland for co-hosting.

About Flexible Working Day

Flexible Working Day initiative was launched in early 2017, with the release of the new Flexible Work, What’s Working and What’s Not survey. The survey results are being released shortly and aims to spark discussion between employees and employers on national Flexible Working Day.

We are not surprised that the survey reveals that flexibility is the most important influencer on career choices, ahead of remuneration and career progression, nor that 91 per cent of respondents agree that flexible working has increased their job satisfaction and motivation, as they are better able to juggle what is important in their lives.
